Better Skills Academy ("we", "us") provides maths tutoring, practice books, and online lessons at betterskillsacademy.com and student.betterskillsacademy.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled. Better Skills Academy is operated by Pat Pathak (ABN 99 531 566 706).

What we collect

• Contact form: name, email, and message content, submitted when you enquire via the main site (processed through Formspree).
• Account information: if you create an account on the student hub, your name and email address (via email/password or Google sign-in), stored securely with our database provider, Supabase.
• Lesson progress: which parts of an interactive lesson you've completed, tied to your account, so progress is saved between visits.
• Order and purchase records: when you order a printed book or purchase course access, payment is processed by Stripe; we retain a record of the purchase (not full card details, which Stripe never shares with us) to confirm access and handle delivery.
• Usage analytics: general site usage data via Google Analytics (pages visited, approximate location, device type) to understand how the site is used.

How we use it

• To respond to enquiries and arrange tutoring sessions
• To provide and maintain your student hub account and save your lesson progress
• To process and deliver book orders and course purchases
• To understand and improve how the site and lessons are used

Who we share information with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site, and share only what's necessary for them to provide their service: Google Analytics (usage analytics), Formspree (contact form delivery), Supabase (account and database hosting), Google (sign-in), Stripe (payment processing), and Vercel / GitHub Pages (website hosting). We do not sell your information to anyone.

Cookies

We use cookies for two purposes: keeping you signed in to the student hub, and anonymous analytics via Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect the ability to stay signed in.

Data retention

We keep account and progress information for as long as your account exists. Contact form submissions and order records are kept as long as reasonably needed for business and record-keeping purposes. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Contact, below).

Students under 18

Many users of our lessons are secondary school students. Accounts and purchases are generally expected to be set up with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, particularly where payment is involved.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time by contacting us (below). We'll respond as quickly as we reasonably can.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures (including relying on reputable providers like Supabase, Stripe, and Google for sensitive data handling) to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent change.
